Withdrawal Policy
Dijlah Journal of Medical Sciences is dedicated to promoting the intellectual agenda by publishing high-quality articles and adhering to publication ethics. We anticipate that authors will adhere to the highest standards of publication ethics while also producing high-quality articles. Authors should make the request within a few days following submission, usually no more than five, if they would like to withdraw their manuscript from consideration for publication after it has been submitted. When manuscripts are withdrawn just days before they are scheduled to be published, editors, reviewers, and editorial staff have wasted a great deal of time and effort processing the submissions.
We kindly request that the authors, in particular the first or corresponding author, make a decision before submitting the article in order to prevent the paper from being withdrawn. Within five days of submission, manuscripts may be withdrawn. Requests for withdrawals must be sent via email. Once a manuscript has been published, it cannot be taken down or withdrawn unless there are ongoing legal problems or copyright violations affecting the manuscript in question. Moreover, withdrawal of manuscript after acceptance or after publishing will not be reimbursed.
Authors who wish to withdraw a submitted manuscript must notify the editorial office in writing. The request must come from the corresponding author's registered email address and must clearly state the reason for withdrawal.
- Withdrawal before Peer Review
Manuscripts may be withdrawn before peer review begins, subject to confirmation by the editorial office that the review process has not yet started. The editorial office will process such requests promptly.
- Withdrawal during or after Peer Review
Withdrawal during or after peer review is evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Editor-in-Chief. The journal may decline a withdrawal request where unresolved concerns exist about publication ethics, authorship disputes, simultaneous submission to another journal, or other matters of misconduct.
- Withdrawal after Acceptance
Withdrawal of a manuscript after formal acceptance requires the written consent of all listed authors and a satisfactory explanation. Silent withdrawal abandoning an accepted manuscript without formal notification and justification is considered a breach of publication ethics. The journal may notify the authors' institutions if a withdrawal after acceptance is handled in a manner that constitutes misconduct.
- Manuscripts under Investigation
The journal will not process a withdrawal request for any manuscript that is currently under investigation for a suspected ethics violation. In such cases, the investigation will be concluded first, and the outcome will determine the appropriate course of action.
To avoid withdrawal of a manuscript
We request the authors especially to the corresponding author or the first author to address the following issues before submitting the manuscript:
Before submitting a manuscript to the Dijlah Journal of Medical Sciences, all authors must collectively ensure the integrity and accuracy of the work. This involves verifying that all presented facts and data are error-free, that the materials used are properly permitted, and that every author agrees with the interpretation and presentation of the findings. Should any differences in opinion arise, they must be resolved through discussion among all co-authors prior to submission? Additionally, all authors must be informed of the target journal and provided with a copy of the final article; if there is any disagreement regarding the journal choice, a mutually acceptable alternative must be found before proceeding.
Regarding the submission process itself, the manuscript must be submitted exclusively to this journal and not be under consideration elsewhere simultaneously. Once the manuscript is accepted by another journal, withdrawal from Dijlah Journal of Medical Sciences is not permitted. Furthermore, if the authors fail to respond to editorial communications after multiple reminders at any stage of publication, the journal reserves the right to disclose the authors' conduct and the manuscript's content without further consent, and will not be held liable for any consequences arising from such disclosure.
